Fanatic or mildly Psychotic - the weird bonds of friendship (originally posted January 6, 2009)

My friends and I tend to have this conversation about how different we are compared to the general public, especially in regards to our obsessions. In the general sense, when a person says they like something, they tend to think about it or enjoy reading up on it when they get the chance. Like when a kid likes a music group, that kid probably buys their music online, puts up a poster, goes to a concert and calls it a day.

That's not me and my friends.

When our friend says she likes a singer, we find out where he performs and go to every show.

When our friend likes a book, we find out every historical detail on the characters and writer.

When our friend wants to go to a concert, we sleep outside overnight and claw our way to the ticket stand even if it means taking a couple tweens out.

When we have a hangout (aka Disneyland), we go every week, make friends with workers, and learn the place like we work there.

Is it because we're slightly Obsessive? Are we trying to supplement our abundance of love in our hearts that we just need to focus it on someone or somethings at a certain moment?

Or are we just 11 year old tweens who are living in 20-something year old bodies?

Either way, thank goodness for friends who share the same weird, unsual, sometimes unhealthy, and almost always illegally inappropriately psychotic behaviors.
